Egyptian cotton has extra-long staples, which means each individual fibre is exceptionally long. For sheets to be considered 100% Egyptian, the cotton should be sourced exclusively from Egypt through sellers with a certification from the Cotton Egypt Association

The Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® strives for consumer safety by testing for harmful substances. The Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® covers the entire supply chain, including raw materials, intermediate products, and final products. 

BCI is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world that promotes a socially and environmentally improved way of producing cotton for the desirable future industry. BCI is a concept to grow cotton with judicious use of water, chemical fertilisers and pesticides, to reduce the environmental footprint of cotton farming. However, BCI isn't organic as it uses genetically modified cotton seeds and pesticides. This is within 'Integrated Pest Management' framework that seeks to minimise their use. (This is cotton in conversion and sometimes it can be conventional cotton as well).

Recycled materials in any products are applicable for the Global Recycled Standard. In order to take part in the GRS, the product has to consist of at least 20% recycled material. If the product contains at least 50% recycled material, the GRS logo is allowed to be printed on the final product.

GOTS walks through each step of the supply chain, from the raw materials to the final product, in order to keep track of whether they are respectful in social and ecological aspects. Using this label means supporting agricultural practices that transition to organic farming: the land becomes switched from conventional to organic.
